Retail Distribution Systems Technician
About the role
Knight Electric is a national electrical contractor specializing in commercial and retail new construction and renovation. We have offices in Justin, TX (Dallas/Fort Worth) and Alpharetta, GA (Atlanta). Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installation and service tasks to required specifications, including bending conduit, pulling wire, installing fixtures, devices, plates, switchgear, and branch circuits.
- Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings.
- Mentor, direct, and supervise apprentices.
- Install and connect control systems, power distribution systems, electrical switchgear, including components such as switchboards, panels, load centers, motor control centers, breakers, transformers, and disconnect switches.
- Use multi-meters for measuring voltage, amperage, resistance, and more.
- Connect branch circuits, feeders, and controls, including terminations, panels, and equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and resolve problems with circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ensure all work complies with codes and safety regulations.
- Generate complete materials lists for assigned scopes of work.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical systems. Test circuit continuity for compatibility and safety.
- Maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Assist other employees as needed.
- Inspect jobs upon completion for quality, safety, and cleanliness.
- Maintain good working relationships with team.
- Observe safe work practices and follow safety procedures.
- Auxiliary in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Implement safety procedures and precautions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8,000+ verifiable hours worked in the electrical trade.
- Current State Electrical Journeyman license.
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical theory, NEC, and local codes.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Advanced knowledge of hand tools, testing equipment, and other commonly used trade equipment.
- Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostics ability.
- Embrace quality control processes.
- Good attention to detail.
- Follow process and procedure.
- Current OSHA 10 certification.
Qualifications
- Formal trade school or apprentice program completion.
- Current Elevated Work Platform certification.
- Current Lock Out/Tag Out Training certification.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current NFPA 70E Arc Flash Training certification.

- Total compensation between $42.00 - $55.00 per hour based on state electrical license(s), experience, and supervision, etc.

Schedule
This is a traveling role with projects in various locations throughout the US. You can live anywhere in the United States, preference to Midwest and Southeast. Shifts and hours vary by project but will include night and weekend shifts.
