Job Summary

The Retail Dining Manager role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, customer-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience. This position oversees retail dining operations within a 720-bed hospital, including management of the hospital coffee shop and a team of approximately 20 associates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital's retail dining and coffee shop venues
  • Lead, develop, coach, and support a team of approximately 20 frontline associates
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and create a welcoming experience for patients, visitors, and hospital staff
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Maintain cash controls, payroll records, and labor productivity
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for retail operations
  • Control food, supply, and labor costs while identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies
  • Maintain inventory levels and oversee purchasing activities
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards
  • Partner with culinary and marketing teams to implement new retail concepts, menu offerings, and promotional programs
  • Analyze retail trends and customer feedback to enhance sales and guest satisfaction
  • Serve as the primary liaison with hospital stakeholders regarding retail dining operations
  • Support special events, promotions, and department initiatives as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of supervisory or management experience in food service, retail dining, hospitality, or healthcare food service
  • Associate's degree in business, hospitality, or food and beverage is a plus
  • Experience managing high-volume retail, café, coffee shop, or dining operations
  • Healthcare, hospital, senior living, university dining, or hospitality experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop frontline teams in a customer-focused environment
  • Strong knowledge of retail food service operations, food safety, sanitation, inventory management, and cost controls
  • Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, forecasting, and labor productivity
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business-related software applications
  • ServSafe® Certification preferred

Additional Information

Reports to: Senior Director of Dining Services
Schedule: Full time; primarily Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. This leadership role requires flexibility to support both morning and evening operations, as well as occasional overnight coverage based on business needs.
