Retail Credit Analyst

About the role

As part of a dynamic, fast-paced, critical team at VFS, you support VFS dealers and customers in the truck, construction, and bus industries. You develop relationships with key dealership personnel including dealership owners and F&I managers, and interact closely with VFS sales channel leaders. You work with these individuals to underwrite, negotiate, structure, and provide credit approvals and financing solutions to meet customer needs, adjudicating deals including single unit transactions up to $10M.

You review customer financial statements, spread financial statements, and make recommendations based on analysis of PayNet, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, personal financial statements, and tax returns. You help support VFS dealers and customers with financing solutions across transportation segments, including EMobility. You will be part of an on-site team in Greensboro, reporting to the Retail Credit Manager, serving as the face and voice of VFS to dealers and key customers. You collaborate with the sales team to review dealer requests, negotiate with dealers and customers, and manage your own work queue to ensure timely transaction reviews. You handle all facets of a deal, including down payment, terms, guarantor requirements, collateral analysis, document requirements, insurance needs, and UCC/PMSI requirements to perfect VFS security and minimize risk.

Responsibilities

• Review and spread financial statements, including CPA-prepared tax returns or customer-prepared financials, and analyze key financial ratios.
• Provide concise written and verbal analysis of risk and mitigants for credit requests, ensuring compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and OFAC requirements.
• Meet directly with customers as needed, with occasional travel required.
• Make credit recommendations based on analysis and submit to the required authority for approval.
• Participate in post-mortem processes to provide insights on deals, ensuring continuity and opportunities for improvement.
• Adhere to The Volvo Way, Code of Conduct, and defined policy requirements.
• Continuously gain industry knowledge, learn, and support process improvements in the Retail Credit department.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (MBA a plus) or equivalent credit analysis experience.
• 5-7+ years of experience in loan or lease transactions, retail or commercial underwriting, banking, portfolio asset management, or credit/risk management, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proficiency in financial analysis and commercial reporting.
• Experience working with multiple sales channels or credit officers.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking); additional languages a plus.
• Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Teams.

Pay

The base pay for this position is set at $72,600.00 - $89,700.00 annually. The range and final salary offered are determined by factors including geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. Bonus eligibility may apply. Pay equity and internal equity of current team members are also considered in the final offer.
