RETAIL COMPUTER TECHNICIAN
About the role

As a Retail Computer Technician, you’ll split your time between the Service Counter—helping customers explore service options to build long-term relationships—and the repair shop, diagnosing and fixing a variety of devices while maintaining clear communication about repair status. Base pay starts at $16.50/hour with productivity incentives that can increase earnings to $19.50–$35/hour.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting at the service counter for computers, related equipment, and other retail products.
- Recommend service solutions such as data backups, anti-virus software, extended warranties, and support subscriptions.
- Diagnose and document hardware failures or software issues on desktops, laptops, mobile phones, TVs, monitors, and other devices.
- Assemble custom computers sold by the build-your-own (BYO) sales team.
- Use technical manuals and support resources, maintain relevant certifications, and stay updated on retail products and technologies.
- Maintain a cash till, handle customer transactions, and ensure the department is clean with accurate inventory tracking.
- Communicate repair status to customers consistently via face-to-face, phone, text, or email.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; one year of related computer service, repair, or technical customer service experience strongly preferred.
- CompTIA A+ certification, Apple ACMT and ACiT certifications, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire (Apple certifications highly desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask and adjust priorities.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods.
- Willingness to work shifts that may include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, including hours before and after store opening.

Pay
