The Retail Cashier position at MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries in OFallon, MO is an energetic, self-motivated, and professional role supporting the mission of "Changing Lives Through the Power of Work!"
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge customers as they enter the store, assist on the sales floor, and answer the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
- Operate the store cash register: handle cash, credit card transactions, appropriate discount returns, and ensure cash register balancing.
- Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.
- Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
- Uphold store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
- Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership, and collaborate with other teams to enhance communication.
- Adhere to safe work practices through awareness and observation.
- Ensure the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways clear.
- Maintain a professional appearance always, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code.
- Safeguard agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets immediately.
- Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
Qualifications
- No degree required. A High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
- Organized and capable of interacting with a diverse work population.
- Necessary math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
