About the Role

The International Products Sourcing Group is seeking a self‑motivated, results‑oriented Retail Buyer with experience in consumer electronics. The position is based at Micro Center’s corporate headquarters in Hilliard, Ohio (suburb of Columbus, OH). Relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate costs, terms, and vendor support (co‑op) for assigned merchandise categories.
• Select and negotiate “Best in Class” hot offers for customers and drive assortments that build the “Best Computer Store in the World.”
• Oversee and manage all vendor activities, including selection and purchase of merchandise (type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix, and promotion).
• Create and implement plans to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, promotion costs, and markdowns.
• Recommend and direct development and implementation of category merchandise strategy and tactical plans.
• Coordinate with Web Development and Advertising/Marketing teams to maximize merchandising opportunities; proof ad copy, page layout, design, and ensure web specifications and photos are accurate.
• Develop and communicate effective merchandising programs at the store level.
• Participate in evaluating new business opportunities consistent with short‑ and long‑term business strategies.
• Monitor competitor pricing for assigned categories.
• Forecast top‑selling SKUs for assigned categories on weekly, monthly, and quarterly bases.
• Partner with store sales management to ensure execution of store merchandising standards, displays, and visual merchandising.
• Collaborate with Distribution & Transportation, Stores (Sales & Operations), Web Development, Advertising/Marketing, Accounting, and Planning & Allocation to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Retail Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or a related field (preferred).
• 5–7 years of merchant experience as a Retail Buyer or Associate Buyer, preferably in the consumer electronics industry.
• Mandarin Chinese fluency (preferred) and ability to travel to Asia as needed.
• International purchasing experience (a plus).
• Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining positive vendor relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and retail‑math abilities.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented team player.
• Knowledge of purchasing and forecasting systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
