Retail Banking Officer
About the role
Promotes a positive work environment that inspires, motivates, challenges, supports, and provides ongoing recognition for exceptional performance. Provides leadership to the banking center for daily sales, service, and operations. Leads consistent delivery of excellent customer service to all banking center customers, including relationship-building efforts for existing and prospective consumer and business customers. Focuses on daily sales initiatives and assumes a proactive role in customer interaction and service, including meeting with customers to discuss their specific banking needs in person and via phone. Actively initiates outbound telephone calls for customer onboarding, prospecting new retail customers, and promoting new and existing retail banking relationships. Assists the Banking Center Manager in targeted outside sales activities and participates in community service opportunities.
This position is 100% in-office and located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Personally models the standards of the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Pledge.
- Assesses the financial needs of Banking Center clients and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Consistently meets and exceeds defined sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals, and profitability.
- Promotes the sales culture within the banking center through sales-related activities to reach individual and team sales goals.
- Communicates and partners effectively with branch staff and peers to promote a team environment and informally coaches others for positive results.
- Educates bank team on uncovering opportunities to advance financial wellness of customers.
- Sets priorities and follows through on the implementation of defined sales and service activities.
- Actively participates in community activities (Boards, Executive Committees, Advisory roles, etc.).
- Provides input into evaluating performance, coaching, and training employees; may assist with interviewing.
- Supports day-to-day operations including customer service, open and close procedures, vault duties, cash control, inventory, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Actively participates in and may lead regular sales and staff meetings.
- Provides service to customers and prospective customers on various banking matters, including product explanations and problem resolution.
- Builds successful working relationships with internal business partners and seeks constructive peer feedback.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making by following established guidelines and procedures.
- Maintains prescribed security controls to protect against criminal and fraudulent operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and customer business.
- Performs all roles within a retail Banking Center as needed.
- Contributes in a team environment by answering incoming telephone calls and performing additional duties to support the success of the Banking Center.

Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Banking, cash handling, sales, and customer service experience required.
- Supervisory or leadership skills required.
- Must foster partnerships with banking center staff and employees from other lines of business.
- Responsible for assisting with evaluating performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Assists with proactive recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and training employees.
- Ability to promote, generate, and deepen financial relationships through outbound calling, internal business development, and building a loyal customer base.
- Strong consumer lending skills preferred with a solid understanding of consumer lending products.
- Ability to effectively interact and build positive customer relationships, expressing concepts and product information clearly verbally and in writing.
- Strong product knowledge for selling and cross-selling performance.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and flexibility.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook 365 and ability to learn various Banking Software programs.
- Sound mathematical and analytical skills preferred.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration required within thirty days of hire.
- Must be available to work all hours of operations.

Pay
The wage range for this position is $45,000–$48,000 annually, plus eligibility for incentives.
