Office Depot’s Retail Assistant Store Manager drives total sales and service growth, creates a vibrant sales culture, and upholds visual-merchandising, freight, and logistics standards while delivering unparalleled client satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction.
- Ensure execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store.
- Foster a sales-focused environment by training and developing associates.
- Act as a role model for exceptional customer service and product expertise.
- Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
- Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.
- Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer-satisfaction initiatives.
- Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates.
- Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offering for clients/customers.
- Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
- Exercise independent judgment when assessing store associates’ performance, certification(s), and competencies.
- Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.
- Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including alarm activation/deactivation, cash handling, and daily store balancing.
- Ensure regular loss-prevention compliance.
- Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the External Key Carrier designation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of related experience in retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory roles.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use job-related technology and systems.
- Advanced selling skills and strong customer focus.
- Proven leadership: ability to lead, coach, motivate, and manage conflict.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; effective collaborator and team player.
- Business acumen, accountability, and drive for results; ability to make sound decisions.
- Positive, engaging, action-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about the brand, products, services, and solutions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that aligns with business needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Full-Time Assistant Managers must be able to perform External Key Carrier responsibilities, including opening and closing duties.
- Consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third-party.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $15.49 to $23.62 per hour, with adjustments made to comply with all state and local minimum-wage laws.
Schedule
- Flexible schedule aligned with business needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Full-Time Assistant Managers must be available for opening and closing responsibilities.
