Retail Assistant Store Manager
As a Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot, you’ll drive total sales and service growth while nurturing a vibrant sales culture. You’ll enhance visual and merchandising standards, manage freight and logistics, and prioritize unparalleled client satisfaction. As a “Key Carrier” and leader on duty, you’ll work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, and perform opening and closing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction.
- Ensure execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store.
- Foster a sales-focused environment by assisting with training and development of associates.
- Act as a role model for delivering exceptional customer service and product expertise.
- Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
- Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.
- Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates.
- Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offerings for clients/customers.
- Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
- Exercise independent judgment when providing input to the General Manager on assessing store associates' performance, certification(s), and competencies.
- Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.
- Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including activation and deactivation of the store’s alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing.
- Ensure regular loss prevention compliance as a leader in the store.
- Fulfill responsibilities associated with External Key Carrier designation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of related experience in retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory roles.
- Basic computer skills; able to use job-related technology and systems.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $14.08 to $21.48 per hour, with adjustments to comply with all state and local minimum wage laws. You may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program, paid in accordance with the Incentive Plan terms and conditions.
