Retail Assistant Store Manager
Office Depot Assistant Store Managers are key leaders who drive sales, service, and operational excellence while fostering a vibrant, customer-centric culture aligned with the company’s 5C values: Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, and Courageous. As a “Key Carrier,” you will lead the store during scheduled shifts, including opening and closing responsibilities, and must be available for a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the management team to deliver memorable customer experiences and ensure client satisfaction.
- Execute Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store; foster a sales-focused environment through associate training and development.
- Act as a role model for exceptional customer service and product expertise.
- Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
- Assist the General Manager in coaching associates to improve performance and drive sales growth through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction initiatives.
- Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services staff.
- Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offerings for clients and customers.
- Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
- Exercise independent judgment in assessing store associates’ performance, certifications, and competencies; provide input to the General Manager.
- Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.
- Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including alarm system activation/deactivation, cash handling, and daily store balancing.
- Ensure regular loss prevention compliance and fulfill all responsibilities associated with the External Key Carrier designation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of related experience in retail, sales, customer-facing roles, and/or supervisory experience.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use job-related technology and systems.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $15.49 to $20.91 per hour, with adjustments made to comply with all state and local minimum wage laws. Eligible employees may participate in an incentive program, paid in accordance with the Incentive Plan terms and conditions.
