Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and refine classroom management plans aligned with the school's behavior protocol.
- Provide in-class coaching, modeling, and feedback to teachers on effective strategies for managing yellow-level behaviors (e.g., classroom disruption, defiance, minor disrespect, hallway misbehavior, technology violations).
- Support teachers in implementing Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavioral interventions, including reteaching expectations, restorative circles, and positive reinforcement systems.
- Facilitate professional learning sessions and small-group trainings on proactive classroom management, de-escalation, and restorative practices.
- Serve as a thought partner in developing collaborative behavior plans when yellow-level behaviors become persistent.
- Supervise and facilitate lunch and special areas detention with a focus on restorative reflection and reteaching expectations.
- Support teachers in building positive relationships with students to reinforce prosocial behavior and accountability.
- Support implementation of schoolwide behavior systems, expectations, and recognition programs.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and administrators to monitor behavior data trends and identify students or classrooms in need of additional support.
Documentation and Communication
- Maintain records of coaching sessions, classroom visits, and intervention plans.
- Support teachers in documenting interventions and PowerSchool entries for yellow-level incidents.
- Communicate with families when needed to reinforce positive behavior partnerships between school and home.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (Master's preferred).
- NYS Teacher Certification, School Counselor, or related certification preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, positive behavior supports, and restorative practices.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
