Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with transfers, walking, strength training, and range of motion exercises.
  • Documents service and changes in the patient’s conditions.
  • Aids patients with dressing or grooming, applies and monitors splinting, and helps with amputation and prosthesis care.
  • Communicates observations of residents' conditions, preventing neglect, abuse, and violations of rights and privacy.
  • Sanitizes whirlpools, tubs, and showers when used in restorative therapy.
  • Assists residents with ambulation and transfer as needed.
  • Performs restorative care treatments.
  • Encourages residents to perform or participate in daily ADL functions.
  • Demonstrates procedures involved in the treatment process and recommends modifications as needed.
  • Instructs and supervises residents during therapy.
  • Prepares residents for treatment by dressing/positioning and administers restorative care according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ambulates residents in accordance with the resident's plan of care.
  • Provides a range of motion (ROM) in accordance with the resident's plan of care.
  • Positions residents as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state where employed.
  • Minimum of three months' prior Nursing Assistant experience in long-term care (preferred).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
