About the role
As a Shift Leader at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, you are empowered to support management in meeting restaurant goals through the implementation, management, and enforcement of company policies, procedures, programs, and performance standards. You will take a hands-on leadership role to ensure every shift delivers:

You will report directly to the General Manager or Manager on Duty and work closely with all levels of store personnel, home office departments, guests, and distributors.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all menu items are prepared, portioned, and presented properly in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner according to established procedures, performance standards, and local health department regulations.
- Perform or assist with all functions for all positions in the restaurant as needed.
- Shift Readiness: Set up each shift for success through thorough planning, inspection, and anticipation of potential challenges. Communicate expectations with staff, assign work stations, and foster enthusiasm and confidence.
- Direct Your Shift: Lead the shift by executing your plan, maintaining a positive attitude, and adapting to challenges. Keep the team organized and focused, correct food or service issues immediately, and ensure standards are upheld.
- Follow Up: Measure shift results against your plan, ensure the restaurant is ready for the next shift, and communicate with management about employee performance, guest concerns, or maintenance issues.
Requirements
- Extensive standing and walking for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to see at a distance (20 feet), at close range (12 inches), distinguish shapes, and utilize peripheral vision.
- Clear communication skills.
- Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold.
- Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 2.5–3 feet.
- High level of mobility and flexibility in provided spaces.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to read, write, and perform addition/subtraction calculations.
- Finger dexterity for writing, slicing, chopping, and operating equipment.
- Ability to fit through openings 30” wide.
- Ability to work irregular hours under heavy pressure during busy times.
- Bending, reaching, and walking.
- Carrying trays of food products weighing up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to dish and cleaning chemicals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; some college or degree preferred.
- 1-year experience, preferably in the food service industry.
