Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to serve food and beverage items to guests following the procedures taught during training. Serve guests quickly and efficiently with complete knowledge of food and beverage menus. Adept at all service functions while interacting with guests and maintaining a clean, safe and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
  • Acknowledge and greet all guests, anticipate guest needs, and respond to guest inquiries or requests
  • Effectively merchandise food and beverage menus in an informative manner, friendly and enthusiastic manner
  • Communicates with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Clean and reset dirty tables according to standards
  • Cleaning and polishing of water glasses and silverware
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Prepare dining room and work area for either opening or closing accordance with company standards
  • Set tables with clean pressed linen, china, silverware, and glassware
  • Ensure dining room furniture and floors are kept clean and arranged
  • Attend staff meetings to receive information and direction
  • Contribute to a professional workplace that maximizes employee morale, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Works well with a diverse FOH and BOH staff
  • Performs additional responsibilities although not detailed, as requested by a manager
  • Serves food and beverage to guests following company steps of service and adheres to service times
  • Follows daily checklists and side work
  • Set-ups, stocks and breakdown of service and dining room following procedures
  • Completes all assigned cleaning duties
  • Complies with direction and instruction from the management team

Qualifications

  • Maintains full knowledge of menus, recipes, wine, liquor, beer, and any other pertinent information
  • Constantly increasing knowledge of food, wine, beer, liquor and other products and services
  • Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Problem solving abilities, self-motivation, and organization
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision
  • An unexpired tips certification
  • Always maintains a clean and professional image
  • Speaks to guests with enthusiasm
  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Knowledge of the floor plan and table numbers as outlined in training
  • Excellent people skills and outgoing personality
  • Experience in a hospitality industry in similar position
  • Previous guest service training in a luxury resort environment

Physical Requirements

  • Spends 95% of the time standing and 5% of the time sitting
  • Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly
  • Ability to bend and reach above head holding up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold and heat
  • Must show ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work in a team-oriented environment
  • Possesses stamina and energy to remain active and move quickly for up to 10-hour shifts
  • Must be able to hear, understand and respond to guest and staff requests in a loud environment

  • Demonstrate ability to carry trays
  • Operating of cappuccino and beverage machines
  • Knowledge and operating of the Micros System
