About the role

Responsibilities
- Greet and take food and drink orders from restaurant customers, serving the orders and accommodating special needs/requests.
- Remain attentive to customers throughout their dining experience, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
- Complete all restocking and cleaning duties by performing opening and closing sidework as instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant, wait station, and kitchen service area.
- Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations to customers.
- Control allocated guest checks by following established check-use procedures and legibly documenting all required information.
- Receive proper payment from guests and ensure accuracy of guest checks and payment methods.
- Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings in person to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, services, and facilities.
- Respond to customer inquiries and comments in person and on the phone, providing timely and knowledgeable information to provide quality customer service.
- Present a clean and professional appearance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar position of 3 months or longer.
- Basic knowledge of customer service principles, the food server function, and restaurant and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of standard cash-handling procedures.
- Fluency in oral and written English.
- Ability to see and handle detailed work in dimly lit conditions.
- Manual coordination to perform tasks such as punching buttons, grasping items, balancing and carrying trays loaded with food and beverages.
Qualifications

- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 lbs to include serving trays, carts, tables, chairs, and small equipment up to 75% of the time.
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering throughout the shift.
- Continuous standing during preparation, during service hours, or during expediting.
- Must have moderate hearing to hear customers, supervisors, and communicate with other staff.
- Must have excellent vision to see that product is prepared appropriately.
- Must have moderate comprehension and literacy to read use records and all special requests.
- Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks.
- Must have ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
