About the role
As Kitchen Manager, you will select, develop, and lead a team that cares for each other and delivers an outstanding guest experience through timely and safe food preparation. Your leadership will contribute to the financial and cultural health of the operation, balancing people, guest satisfaction, and operational health.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the kitchen operation
- Recruit, select, train, and develop kitchen team (supervisors, trainers, team members)
- Foster team cohesiveness and a positive working environment
- Provide and ensure friendly, efficient guest service and teamwork with the hospitality team
- Oversee opening and closing activities
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies
- Ensure compliance with all security procedures
- Work closely with the Hospitality Manager and General Manager to ensure seamless guest service
- Monitor and teach food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to meet standards
- Coordinate kitchen staff assignments for economical food use, timely preparation, and performance
- Manage food cost, variance, inventory, record keeping, and utilization
- Manage labor cost and productivity
- Schedule staff hours
- Resolve personnel issues (tardiness, cell phones, language, attitude, dress code)
- Evaluate employee performance
- Oversee all site operations as needed
- Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, verifying product quality and quantity
- Perform food preparation, service tasks, or manual maintenance as needed
- Explore opportunities to add value and make a difference through job accomplishments
- Update job knowledge through education, professional publications, networks, and organizations
- Direct facility maintenance or repair activities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Previous kitchen management experience in a casual dining restaurant (preferred)
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a supervisory role
- Ability to make decisions, identify issues, and resolve problems
- Ability to guide, direct, and motivate staff
- Ability to plan and prioritize tasks
- Ability to teach and train staff
- Ability to monitor processes, materials, and resources
- Ability to perform administrative tasks
- Knowledge of personnel practices and regulations
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices and regulations
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and good judgment
Working Conditions
- Able to work and verbally communicate effectively with other team members

- Able and willing to work with others as a team
- Able to reach, bend, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to exert fast-paced mobility between the dining room and kitchen for periods of up to 12 hours
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of up to 12 hours
- Able to perform repetitive tasks with little or no break
- Able to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials)
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
Direct Reports
Supervisors, Trainers, Kitchen team members, and all employees when the immediate supervisor is not on the premises.
Pay
$55,000 - $60,000 annually, plus potential incentive compensation based on performance.
