Job Description
The Restaurant Cook assists main restaurant Associates in maintaining high quality food items while keeping in mind the cost and profitability of inventory. The Cook does so by controlling daily and weekly inventories and conducting tasks to ensure guests will have the level of food and beverage service.
What You Will Do
- Maintain an active role in the smoothness and efficiency of retail restaurant operations by producing and coordinating the production of food items needed for daily menus and special events
- Control daily and weekly inventories
- Maintain team awareness of inventory cost and profitability through proper use of production, build-to, and order sheets
- Checks in with supervisor for any special preparation needed before starting normal kitchen tasks
- Perform job responsibilities normally associated with those of a cook, including:
- Cooking and preparing daily menu items using menu counts and production (or build-to sheets)
- Checking inventory of all menus
- Communicating supply needs for production with head cook
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area keeping in mind all health and sanitation standards to assure integrity of food products
- Maintaining equipment daily and reporting any malfunctions to designated Associate
- Maintaining flow of food orders by communicating with Associates promptly
- Verifying all special orders with designated Associate
- Maintaining production of menu items throughout the day, keeping up with supply demands and making serious efforts to avoid wasted items
- Closing and sanitizing work area promptly according to health codes and gathering items required for next day's production
- Communicating any supplies that need to be ordered to supervisor
- Checking in with a supervisor before leaving
What You Will Bring
- A high school diploma or GED
- At least 3 years of relevant experience

- Standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying 35 pounds
- Availability based on Neiman Marcus needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
