About the Role
As the Restaurant Accountant, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations within the Restaurant Division. You’ll handle a variety of accounting, administrative, and organizational tasks while working in a collaborative, creative, and fun environment. This position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end closing, including preparation and/or review of monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and creation of work papers and schedules.
- Handle administrative tasks for assigned properties, such as correspondence, license applications/renewals, tracking/payment of property taxes, and other tasks as needed.
- Serve as a backup for other accountants when necessary.
- Review sales tax or accommodation tax returns for properties.
- Enter journal entries into accounting systems.
- Monitor bank account balances and weekly payables/check runs.
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks like scanning, copying, filing, and storing accounting documents.
- Support accounting department employees as needed or perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Respond to information requests from properties and related parties.
Requirements
- College degree in accounting or related field.
- Understanding of accounting principles.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work logically in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with personnel and customers at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Team player with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with accuracy and organization.
- Professional and courteous demeanor with coworkers, customers, and the public.
