About the role

The Restorative Nurse Aide/Rehab Tech assists in developing and implementing the facility’s restorative nursing program, serving as a liaison between formalized therapy and nursing. This role focuses on maintaining or improving patients’ independence in eating/swallowing, self-care, and mobility through direct care and established techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Restorative Nurse in developing, organizing, and implementing restorative nursing programs for patients.
  • Collaborate closely with the therapy department to ensure continuity of care, including carrying through therapy recommendations post-discharge.
  • Participate in group and individual therapy treatments.
  • Assist patients in the dining room and record patient weights as needed.
  • Support the therapy department by:
    • Helping patients to and from the therapy gym.
    • Providing equipment to therapists for use.
    • Assisting patients and therapists during exercise routines.
  • Manage temperature logs for refrigerators, freezers, and hydrocullators.
  • File paperwork and prepare documents for scanning into medical records.
  • Complete laundry for therapy gym needs.
  • Clean all exercise equipment and durable medical equipment.
  • Provide medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and commodes to patient rooms and the therapy gym as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and all staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the restorative nursing and therapy departments.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted CNA license in good standing with the state registry.
  • Experience with restorative and rehabilitation services.
  • Ability to read and write English.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires daily hearing, speaking, sitting, standing, and walking. The position is located in a healthcare facility environment. Physical tasks include lifting up to 40 pounds and transferring over 100 pounds. Emotional stability is necessary to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
