About the role
The Section Conservation Archaeology of the Canton Berne Archaeological Service is seeking a responsible manager for archaeological inventory management and preventive conservation, as well as a deputy to the section head, starting from January 1, 2027 or upon mutual agreement (full-time, 80-100%).
Responsibilities
- Duty of managing the inventory and preventive conservation service
- Planning, coordinating, and prioritizing tasks and projects while respecting available resources and considering scientific needs
- Maintenance and control of climate in storage and deposit locations and their infrastructure
- Development and implementation of operational processes and planning technical adaptations in collaboration with the section head, colleagues, and external partners
Requirements
- Master's degree, preferably in conservation-restoration or archaeology
- Experience in managing and inventorying archaeological material or preventive conservation
- Experience in managing staff is an asset
- Fluent in French or German, with good knowledge of the other language (level B2 acquired or to be attained)
- Good knowledge of computer databases and understanding of technical installations
