About the Role

As a Part-Time Respite Worker at Owen Health Care Inc., you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for families with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate support, allowing caregivers the necessary time to attend to personal and household matters. You will assist families by engaging children in various recreational and leisure activities primarily in a home setting, ensuring they enjoy enriching experiences both at home and within the community. Your dedication to fostering a nurturing environment will empower caregivers to recharge, knowing their loved ones are in capable hands.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support to families with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Engage children in recreational and leisure activities in home and community settings.
  • Allow caregivers respite time to attend to personal and household matters.
  • Ensure a nurturing and safe environment for children.
  • Maintain strong verbal communication with managers, clients, and parents for seamless service delivery and prompt issue resolution.
  • Promptly inform your direct supervisor of any changes in contact information.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with disabilities (ideal but not required).
  • Effective interpersonal skills to foster satisfactory working relationships with families and professionals.
  • Strong time management skills to balance responsibilities effectively.
  • Consistency in attendance and punctuality to provide reliable support to families.
  • Compassionate, patient, and friendly demeanor.
