Respite Caregiver (DSP), Home Health Care

Job Summary

The Direct Service Professional provides support to children and young adults with special needs through three functional roles: Inclusion Facilitator, Personal Care Assistant, and Respite Worker.

Responsibilities

• Inclusion Facilitator: Supports children and young adults with special needs in typical childcare centers, promoting independence within the environment.
• Personal Care Assistant: Provides support to adults with disabilities in various community-based services, including attending classes, working, grocery shopping, preparing meals, etc.
• Respite Worker: Offers experienced care to provide relief to families, engaging in age-specific enrichment and daily life activities while problem-solving with clients and their loved ones.

Requirements

• Experience: 1-2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities or equivalent related life experience preferred.
• Skills: Must successfully pass DOJ background check, have a reliable means of transportation, complete/provide proof of negative tuberculosis test result, maintain clearance annually, exhibit ethical and professional behavior, and represent UP values.
• Licenses: Complete & maintain Infant/Child/Adult CPR & First Aid training or provide proof of certification.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English, read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 200 lbs, bend, carry objects, climb, keyboard use, pinch/fine motor activities, push/pull, reach, squat/kneel/crawl, stand, talk, hear, taste, smell, twist, walk, and maintain wrist position deviation.
• Physical environments: Airborne communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens, chemical, dust particulates, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces or elevations.
• Sensory requirements: Color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision.

Pay

Pay range: Minimum $23.00, Midpoint $27.16, Maximum $31.32. Rate of pay determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements.
