Respiratory Therapist - UMMC East Bank - 0.9 Night

About the role

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. Respiratory Therapy at UMMC East Bank is a dynamic, growing department with approximately 70 staff members. As part of a large, integrated, academic healthcare system, the Fairview Respiratory Therapist (RT) has a vigorous role in the care of our patients and is an integral member of the intra‑professional team. The RT provides diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician, follows defined treatment protocols according to department policies, collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, and ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and identify expected outcomes.
• Implement respiratory interventions based on plan of care.
• Evaluate care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Deliver care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population or individual patient.
• Use communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
• Operate and maintain all respiratory care equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field.
• License/Certification/Registration:
  • Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Exceptions: New graduates only – must complete RRT within 6 months of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Pay

• $13,500 sign‑on bonus.
• Shift differential: $4.00 per hour for nights.
• Shift differential: $2.00 per hour for weekends.

Schedule

• 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks).
• Shift length: 12 hours on the night shift.
• Weekend rotation: every other or every third weekend.
