Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join their Respiratory Therapy team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank in Minneapolis, MN. They are offering a $13,500 sign-on bonus.

About the Role

Respiratory Therapy at UMMC East Bank is a dynamic, growing department with approximately 70 staff members. The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the care of patients and is an integral member of the interprofessional team. The Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician, follows defined treatment protocols, collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes in patient care, ensures patient welfare and safety, and operates and maintains respiratory care equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected outcomes.
  • Implementing Respiratory interventions based on the plan of care.
  • Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Delivering care as delegated by a physician or authorized practitioner to the assigned patient population or individual patient.
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field.
  • Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field.

Skills

Communication strategies, operating and maintaining respiratory care equipment, assessing patient needs, implementing respiratory interventions, evaluating care, and ensuring patient welfare and safety.

Pay

The pay range is determined by various factors including skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. The maximum of the range is not typical for new hires. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer will be honored.

Schedule

This position will be working 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift and includes a rotation for every other or every third weekend. Shift differential incentives are offered: $4.00/hr for nights and $2.00/hr for weekends.
