About the role

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist Supervisor to oversee our respiratory care department, ensuring high-quality resident care and staff performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Respiratory Therapists and respiratory support staff
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate departmental coverage
  • Conduct staff evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance write-ups as needed
  • Oversee respiratory documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion
  • Ensure adherence to facility policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Interview and examine residents regarding respiratory ailments
  • Diagnose respiratory conditions and assess resident lung capacities
  • Review test results and identify respiratory concerns and treatment needs
  • Administer and oversee respiratory treatments and procedures
  • Remove mucus and other fluids from residents’ lungs and clear airway obstructions when necessary
  • Educate residents and families on lung health, respiratory conditions, and disease prevention
  • Instruct residents and staff on proper respiratory equipment usage and respiratory care procedures
  • Provide emergency respiratory care and resuscitation in cases of ceased breathing
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and oversee resident treatment plans
  • Monitor department operations and ensure high-quality resident care and staff performance
  • Assist with staff training, onboarding, and ongoing education initiatives
  • Demonstrate respect for residents’ dignity, beliefs, and property

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license required
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in respiratory care preferred
  • Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of respiratory regulations, documentation standards, and infection control procedures
  • Ability to effectively manage staff scheduling and departmental workflow
  • Detail-oriented with strong time-management skills
  • Current and valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
