Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN
About the role
As the Respiratory Therapist, you will provide cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician orders, department policies and procedures. You will administer respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, and perform diagnostic tests of the cardiovascular and pulmonary system to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess responses to ordered therapy per plan of care, including routine and intensive therapy and diagnostic procedures.
- Utilize various types of oxygen and other therapeutic gas equipment such as masks, tents, and incubators.
- Administer prescribed doses of medicinal gases and aerosol drugs.
- Measure ventilatory volumes, pressures, and blood gas analysis.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition and general acceptance of treatment.
- Perform duties related to setting up, operating, cleaning, sterilizing, and storing respiratory therapy equipment.
Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- Associate Degree with certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT-State), NBRC-CRT, or Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner (RRT/RCP-State).
- One year of experience strongly preferred.
