About the role
The Respiratory Care Services department at the University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Full-Time, Night shift Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the Pediatrics Team. This position supports the pediatric patient populations and offers opportunities for students in Respiratory Therapy programs.
Responsibilities
- Administers supplemental oxygen/medical gas therapy; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Administers intermittent medication delivery therapy; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Administers bronchopulmonary hygiene, suctioning, & airway care procedures; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Implements airway clearance techniques; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Initiates and maintains non-invasive ventilation (NIV) procedures; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Initiates, maintains, and checks status of mechanical ventilation; documents procedures into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Performs Arterial Blood Gas analysis; reports results accurately and timely.
- Provides for patient transport within the facility.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved and accredited Respiratory Care Program (at least two years in duration).
- Diploma or Certificate of Completion and Associate’s Degree from an accredited academic body.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by The National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Licensed by The State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare provider certification (American Heart Association).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification; PALS Certification; or ACLS Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience with pediatric patients preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric respiratory care protocols.

Pay
$54,000 - $60,000 annually based on experience and qualifications.
