Respiratory Therapist PRN Nights

About the role

Community Hospital is hiring a PRN Respiratory Therapist to work alongside a dedicated, compassionate team. The CRT/RRT will provide timely and efficient respiratory services to patients in all settings served by the department, assist in administrative tasks, and maintain clinical competencies through educational programs. This position may require working weekends, evening or night shifts, flex schedules, and being “on call.”

Responsibilities

• Assess patients appropriately, interpret results accurately, and suggest alternative treatments.
• Review respiratory care orders and complete breathing treatments and incentive spirometry (IS) therapy as ordered.
• Collaborate with nursing staff on patient therapies and change modes of therapy as needed.
• Assist physicians in the clinical management of patients and involve patients and significant others in care activities for teaching purposes.
• Administer medications according to hospital policy and document telephone/verbal orders accurately.
• Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use necessary patient equipment.
• React calmly and effectively in emergency situations and work autonomously when required.
• Perform duties outlined in the Cardiopulmonary Services Department Policy and Procedure Manual and maintain clinical competencies.
• Work as a team member within the entire facility in accordance with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

CRT Qualifications

• State of Oklahoma license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Certification by NBRC as CRT (required and maintained).
• Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education.
• One year of experience post-graduation.
• BLS Healthcare certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within 120 days of hire (must remain current during employment).

RRT Qualifications

• State of Oklahoma license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Certification by NBRC as RRT (required and maintained).
• Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education.
• Associate Degree of Applied Science as Respiratory Therapist or equivalent.
• One year of experience post-graduation.
• BLS Healthcare certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within 120 days of hire (must remain current during employment).
