About the role
Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring a Respiratory Therapist (Part-Time) to join a dedicated and innovative team under the leadership of a new Director of Rehab. The position offers a schedule of approximately 4 hours per day, specializing in neuro and orthopedic care.
Responsibilities
- Assess the state of the patient’s lung health systematically and organize assessments.
- Provide emergency care including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient conditions.
- Maintain and operate devices such as noninvasive mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatuses, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators according to treatment parameters.
- Monitor patient physiological responses during therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, or blood chemistry changes, and consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and patient progress for reassessment, plan of care revisions, and discharge planning.
- Document prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in the patient's chart or enter information into a computer system.
- Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
- Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safety and efficiency, and order repairs when necessary.
- Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers, acknowledging and resolving complaints when needed, prioritizing patient safety.
Requirements
- Graduate from an academic and clinical respiratory program accredited by CAAHEP.
- One or more years of respiratory experience preferred.
- Current State licensure as required by the state in which the facility operates.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility regulations.
