About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Lubbock Heart team. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care, assist with various procedures, and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care for both inpatients and outpatients 24/7.
  • Administer therapeutic medical gases, deliver aerosol therapy, administer prescribed pharmacological medications, and evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed therapy.
  • Assist with procedures such as long and short-term continuous ventilation, airway management, pulmonary postural drainage, chest physiotherapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic testing techniques including Pulmonary Function testing, Bronchoscopies, EKG, ABG, Exercise and Nocturnal oximetry studies.
  • Perform patient oronasal and/or tracheal suctioning.
  • Keep adequate and accurate records of patient therapy and other department records.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Adhere to unit/area’s department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered/certified and licensed by the state of Texas in Respiratory Care.
  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or registry eligibility is required.
  • Must be BLS certified and preferred ACLS certification.
  • Three to five (3 – 5) years combined clinical experience.

Shift

Full-time nights (1730-0600).

About the Hospital

We specialize in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center focused on surgical procedures including cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour emergency department, 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catheterization labs, 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds across three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.
