About the role
The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) 1 is an entry-level RCP position that demonstrates competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups. This role performs and interacts as a healthcare professional administering respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas, focusing on developing critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team, the RCP provides professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.
Schedule
- Night shift with holiday and weekend rotation (rotating holidays and every 3rd weekend)
Bonus
- Up to $15,000
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups
- Administer respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas
- Demonstrate competency as outlined in the RCP I COT
- Develop critical thinking skills
Requirements
- Successful completion of all clinical rotations for respiratory therapy program
- Associate Degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program (Bachelor degree preferred)
- State of Wisconsin license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or AHA approved equivalent
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required within 12 months of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
Preferred qualifications
- American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care (WSRC) membership
- Advanced certification with crisis de-escalation (MANDT), Hospital HazMat, or special pathogens
