About the role

The NICU Registered Respiratory Therapist delivers specialized respiratory care for premature and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Working with minimal supervision, this role performs comprehensive assessments, administers and evaluates therapeutic interventions, and ensures safe, effective ventilatory support in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The therapist provides expertise in neonatal respiratory physiology, participates in emergency response situations, and contributes to individualized care planning.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers specialized respiratory care for premature and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments and administers and evaluates therapeutic interventions.
  • Ensures safe, effective ventilatory support in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Provides expertise in neonatal respiratory physiology.
  • Participates in emergency response situations.
  • Contributes to individualized care planning.
  • Provides education to families and staff.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots respiratory equipment.
  • Supports general departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Respiratory Therapist License - State of Michigan.
  • Upon Hire: Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • CRT-NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • CRT-NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty) preferred.
  • One year NICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Required: Respiratory Therapist License - State of Michigan.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Required: CRT-NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).

  • Preferred: One year NICU or pediatric critical care experience.

Pay

$10,000 sign on bonus!

Schedule

Night shift, 36 hours per week.
