The Registered Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role within the healthcare team by establishing personalized relationships with patients and their support systems. They collaborate with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized respiratory care plans that promote optimal health or provide comfort at end-of-life. The therapist uses evidence-based practices and compassionate care to guide patients through their health journeys. Responsibilities include managing and delivering respiratory care in accordance with current policies and procedures, while maintaining accountability and authority in their role.
Responsibilities
- Establish personalized relationships with patients and their support systems
- Collaborate with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized respiratory care plans
- Promote optimal health or provide comfort at end-of-life through evidence-based practices and compassionate care
- Manage and deliver respiratory care in accordance with current policies and procedures
- Maintain accountability and authority in the role
Qualifications
- Education: An Associate Degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in the appropriate state and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential are required
- Additional Requirements: New graduates must obtain the RRT credential within twelve months of hire
