Respiratory Therapist - Full-time - Sign on bonus

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients receiving Respiratory Therapy daily to determine effectiveness and appropriateness and verifies patients are receiving prescribed therapy.
  • Make appropriate clinical decisions based on physical assessment and chart review.
  • Perform patient education and training to ensure effective self-therapy after discharge and promote preventive measures.
  • Access clinical data, accurately document in the patient medical record using the computerized information systems available at the hospital.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of all equipment used by the department, including its operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, and processing.
  • Review, explain, and demonstrate policies and procedures to new employees.
  • Aid in the orientation process of new employees by teaching and/or observing their performance.
  • Maintain clinical expertise by attending continuing education classes, respiratory seminars, meetings, and self-improvement programs as appropriate and required.
  • Supply proof of yearly CEUs to the Respiratory Clinical Leader or Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Held a current Connecticut State license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (CRT or RRT).
  • Maintain the following certifications:
    • Basic Life Support - required upon hire.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Schedule

37.5 hours a week. 12.5-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm & 7:30pm-7am). Rotating day and overnight shifts. Option to work nights only. Sign on bonus available - 20k new grads, 30k 1+ year of experience.
