We are looking to hire a Respiratory Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic and advanced respiratory care services to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Serves as a resource to physicians, colleagues, and customers.
• Serves as a resource to physicians and nurses with respiratory care plan for patients and facilitates the implementation of physician orders.
• Affirms patients and evaluates appropriateness and quality of respiratory care to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care.
• Communicates patient's needs with the patient's physician.
• Provides effective education to patients, students, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Performs both fundamental and advanced diagnostic procedures including oximetry measurement, capnography, arterial puncture, mechanical ventilation waveform analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
• Performs emergency and acute respiratory care procedures in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

General Requirements

• Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
• Must be licensed as an RCP in the State of Iowa within one year of hire.
• Experience in another health care setting is desirable, with critical care experience preferred.
• Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
• Must be ACLS certified within one year of hire.
• Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

Education

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
