Brief Description
The Respiratory Service Technician is responsible for delivering, setting up, and maintaining respiratory medical equipment and supplies for patients in their homes. This role includes educating patients on the proper use and care of respiratory devices, ensuring equipment is in good working condition, and maintaining compliance with safety and company standards.
Essential Functions
- Deliver, assemble, and set up respiratory medical equipment such as oxygen systems, CPAP/Bi-Level devices, and other related supplies in patients' homes/facilities.
- Provide hands-on education to patients and caregivers on the use and maintenance of respiratory equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for equipment, addressing basic operational issues as needed.
- Ensure all respiratory supplies are prepared, sanitized, and compliant with infection control standards.
- Accurately document deliveries, patient training, and equipment inspections in company records.
- Maintain open communication with healthcare teams regarding patients' respiratory needs.
- Comply with all safety standards, regulations, and company policies related to equipment delivery and use.
Qualifications And Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience with respiratory equipment, durable medical equipment (DME), or patient-facing roles preferred.
- Basic understanding of respiratory devices and supplies (e.g., CPAP, oxygen systems).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and caregivers.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for respiratory equipment.
