About the role

Highland Care Center is seeking a Respiratory Nurse (RN/LPN) to join their clinical team. The ideal candidate will have an interest in respiratory care and will focus on residents with COPD, asthma, chronic respiratory conditions, and other pulmonary needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and monitor ordered nebulizer and inhalation treatments
  • Assist residents with proper use of incentive spirometers
  • Provide chest physiotherapy/percussion ("cupping") when ordered and appropriate
  • Maintain and assess respiratory status, including lung sounds, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and changes from baseline
  • Monitor and manage oxygen therapy according to physician orders
  • Reinforce proper inhaler, nebulizer, and breathing techniques
  • Encourage pulmonary hygiene, coughing, deep breathing, mobility, and other ordered interventions
  • Identify early signs of respiratory decline and communicate changes promptly to providers
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to prevent respiratory-related hospitalizations
  • Provide education to residents, families, CNAs, and nursing staff regarding respiratory conditions and interventions
  • Ensure respiratory treatments, assessments, and outcomes are properly documented

Requirements

Current Utah RN or LPN license

Strong clinical assessment skills

Experience with COPD, asthma, oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, or respiratory care preferred

Skilled in nursing, long-term care, pulmonary, home health, or hospital settings

Excellent communication and resident-education skills

A nurse who enjoys developing a specialty and taking ownership of a clinical program

Qualifications

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
