About the Role

As our Respiratory Care Specialist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes. You will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients and families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced respiratory care, including standard therapy skills, intensive care skills, and emergency resuscitation skills with fewer than 3-5 errors per year.
  • Serve as a resource to physicians, nurses, and respiratory care staff by conducting 4-8 in-services per year.
  • Educate 100% of appropriate respiratory care practitioners in your specialty area with fewer than 2-4 complaints per year.
  • Evaluate patient care provided by other respiratory care practitioners, conduct QA audits, and report findings accurately and on time with fewer than 3-5 omissions per year.
  • Conduct QC monitoring and reporting for the blood gas laboratory.
  • Complete assigned work projects and reports accurately and on time, with no more than 2-4 failures to submit quality work.
  • Initiate 1-2 equipment and/or clinical studies annually.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in a critical care setting.
  • Active Respiratory Care Specialist license in the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Pay

$43.10 - $64.11 per hour.
