Respiratory Care Program Director/Full Time Faculty

About the Role

This position supports the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College through teaching, service, and scholarship. Responsibilities include providing effective instruction to ensure academic programs meet student learning outcomes and prepare students for workforce entry or further education, as well as ensuring program sustainability and alignment with accreditation standards.

The College recognizes three key areas of faculty endeavor: teaching, scholarship, and service, with active participation expected in each.

Responsibilities

Teaching

• Achieve excellence in instruction for both credit and non-credit students.
• Deliver instruction in traditional classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, as well as through technology-enhanced methods such as hybrid, online, distance learning, and competency-based learning.
• Supervise interns, co-op students, and clinical students.

Scholarship

• Engage in scholarly activity to enhance teaching effectiveness and support lifelong learning.
• Participate in discipline- or pedagogy-based inquiry, creative expression, or applied work that expands, enhances, or applies knowledge.

Service

• Contribute to departmental activities that align with the College’s mission.
• Share disciplinary expertise through participation in internal and external community organizations relevant to the field of study.

• Strong leadership ability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ethical, honest, and objective practices.
• Experience collaborating with business, industry, education, and other agencies to identify vocational and general education programming needs.
• Ability to analyze data and organize presentations for individuals and groups.
• Proficiency in short-term and long-range planning.
• Dedication to excellence in teaching and learning.
• Willingness to participate in quality improvement at personal, departmental, and institutional levels.

Qualifications

• Meets minimum experience and education requirements as outlined by Iowa Code sections 260C.47 and 260C.48 and the Northeast Iowa Community College Quality Faculty Plan.
• Baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program, either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.

Certifications and Licenses

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license.
• Valid Driver’s License.
