About the role

This full-time faculty member will coordinate the Respiratory Care Program under the guidance of the Dean of Health Professions. Responsibilities include program organization, administration, continuous review, accreditation standards, and teaching assigned courses as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Assure the Respiratory Care program meets standards established by the college and the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Programs (CoARC) by planning, implementing, and continuously evaluating program outcomes.
  • Teach classroom lectures and labs.
  • Maintain attendance, academic, and other records; submit information as required by the College, State Licensure Boards, and/or CoARC.
  • Develop the Respiratory Care curriculum, course content, and select textbooks, library materials, and equipment/supplies to facilitate learning.
  • Develop the departmental budget, prioritize expenditures, and maintain inventory of existing equipment/supplies.
  • Incorporate simulation education into teaching.
  • Demonstrate ability to teach and motivate students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and learning styles.
  • Facilitate the application of theory to practice, motivate independent learning, and use current technical advances in Respiratory Care.
  • Work cooperatively with program faculty as a team member.
  • Participate in all college meetings, including department meetings as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Maintain professional credentials by attending workshops, conferences, and other continuing education activities.
  • Maintain current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license, BLS certification, and NBRC credential if applicable.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally.
  • Promote the College’s mission, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Minimum of four years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two years in clinical respiratory care.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience teaching either as appointed faculty in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor.
  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Valid Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Current membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Must pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must complete CoARC Key Personnel Training within 24 months of assuming the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience.
  • CoARC accreditation experience.

Pay

Anticipated starting salary: $57,289.00 – $60,000.00.
