About the role

The Respiratory Care Practitioner III position plays a crucial role in providing respiratory care, including oxygen and medication delivery, ventilator care, and patient education.
Responsibilities
- Provides clinical instruction and training to department staff and other healthcare team members.
- Mentors and evaluates respiratory care staff, and participates in clinical learning activities.
- Assists with quality improvement initiatives and leads clinical research projects.
- Serves as a shift "Charge Therapist," ensuring adequate staffing and managing patient care areas.
- Performs procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheotomy, and invasive monitoring under physician supervision.
- Administers various respiratory therapies, including IPPB, aerosol therapy, and postural drainage.
- Maintains and evaluates mechanical ventilators, performs arterial punctures, and conducts pulmonary function tests.
- Trains new team members and students in respiratory care practices.
- Evaluates patient responses to therapy and makes recommendations to adjust treatment plans.
- Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
Requirements
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state of employment.
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (preferred).
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) certification (preferred).
- Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification (preferred).
Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or five years as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
- Demonstrated clinical competency in at least two of the following environments: Nursery/NICU, PICU, ICU/CCU, ED, and general care areas.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Respiratory Therapy, Health Care, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration (preferred).
Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of non-invasive respiratory therapy equipment and therapeutic procedures.
- Understanding of EKGs, electronic monitoring, and basic arrhythmias.
- Experience with arterial blood gas punctures and testing.
- Knowledge of chest suction equipment and X-ray interpretation.
