Respiratory Care Practitioner - Full-time, Night Shift

About the role

Provides essential respiratory care services to adult and geriatric patients, including assessment, therapy administration, and patient education. Works independently and supervises delegated tasks, ensuring safe and effective treatment in accordance with hospital policies. Completes documentation and maintains equipment, supporting patient recovery and departmental operations.

Responsibilities

  • Administers aerosol, oxygen, and ventilator therapies, and performs pulmonary function tests.
  • Draws arterial blood gases and monitors patient progress, providing recommendations for treatment adjustments.
  • Assists with equipment setup, maintenance, and quality control, ensuring readiness and safety.
  • Serves as a resource for physicians and staff on respiratory procedures and equipment.
  • Provides patient and family education on respiratory diseases and treatments.
  • Supports department training, supervises staff, and participates in special procedures like bronchoscopies.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • Preferred: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).

  • Commitment to safety and quality standards, with knowledge of infection control and equipment operation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
