About the role
The Respiratory Care Assistant is learning and incorporating the mission statement and standards of behavior of the hospital or care facility. This Assistant performs basic competencies within orientation and provides satisfactory respiratory care independently post verification of education and completed competency.
Responsibilities
- Medicated aerosol delivery
- Airway clearance therapy
- Patient monitoring (bedside spirometry, noninvasive monitors, and ECG)
- Oxygen and humidity therapy
- Special procedures (CPR, collect data, equipment setups)
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- Maintains Protected Health Information (PHI) securely per annual training, UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma / GED; Enrolled in an accredited respiratory care program (Required)
- Experience: Student experience (Required); Experience in basic respiratory therapy procedures (Preferred)
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Holder of current Ohio Limited Practice Permit (Required)
- Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
