Respiratory Care Assistant (Per- Diem)

Major Job Functions

• Maintains an adequate amount of supplies, medication, and medical gas tanks within the department.
• Takes care of accumulating dirty equipment and the processing of equipment.
• Administers medications via nebulizer, as well as, participates in other forms of intermittent non-invasive patient care.
• Does not participate in critical care or the care of unstable patients.

Major Job Functions

• Instructs patients in the use and performance of Incentive Spirometry.
• Performs CPT per department guidelines.
• Charges for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX system.
• Performs Arterial punctures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required. Enrolled student in good standing of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required.
• Work Experience: None.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests. Manual dexterity to operate and assemble equipment. Visual acuity. Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time. Ability to position and move patients. Ability to push heavy equipment to patients’ bedsides.
• Physical Requirements: Position may involve skin, eye, and mucous membranes with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
• Required Licenses and Certifications: BLS - American Heart Association.
