Respiratory Care Assistant-Cardiopulmonary Services

About the role

The RC Assistant provides basic respiratory care services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include oxygen/humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, chest PT, medication nebulizers, IPPB, ABGs, and other non-critical respiratory care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic respiratory care services to patients.
• Implements general respiratory care procedures such as oxygen/humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, chest PT, medication nebulizers, IPPB, ABGs, and other non-critical respiratory care procedures.
• May not deliver mechanical ventilation or conduct invasive monitoring.

Requirements

• Active enrollment in the second year curriculum of an approved respiratory care associate degree program.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
• Comply with department policies and procedures.
• Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved respiratory care associate degree program.
• Pass the Respiratory Care Certification Examination.

• Proficiency in using respiratory care equipment.
