RESP THERAPY INTERN

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Intern supports the Respiratory Department's operations, including equipment cleaning, assembly, distribution, oxygen tank replacement, and stocking. They assist with transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responding to equipment requests. Interns must maintain current BLS certification and demonstrate proficiency in their role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain respiratory equipment by cleaning and disinfecting, assembling and testing equipment as necessary, and notifying biomedical engineering of broken or malfunctioning equipment.
• Stock and replace oxygen tanks as needed.
• Maintain equipment setup and delivery.
• Communicate with respiratory practitioners about equipment and departmental needs.
• Absorb and evaluate assessments from therapists during their shifts.
• Ensure a clean work area and participate in meetings and committees as required.
• Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Complete required education assignments annually.
• Work towards achieving job-related goals and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

None specified at the time of hire. Must be currently enrolled in a CoArc approved Respiratory Therapy Program and hold a current BLS certification.
