Essential Responsibilities

  • Educate patients in classroom and individual settings regarding sleep disorders and treatment options.
  • Instruct patients on the use of home diagnostic sleep testing equipment.
  • Review sleep study results and provide preliminary patient education regarding findings.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of CPAP, BiPAP, and other therapeutic respiratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, managers, and clinical staff to identify and resolve sleep and pulmonary care issues.
  • Coordinate referrals to sleep medicine, pulmonary care, and healthy living programs.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of respiratory care programs for patients with sleep apnea, COPD, hypoventilation, neuromuscular disease, and other sleep-related disorders.
  • Conduct follow-up consultations with CPAP users to assess compliance and treatment effectiveness.
  • Communicate physician-directed sleep study results and treatment recommendations to patients.
  • Provide case management consultations for patients referred by physicians.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care, Healthcare Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Current and valid Georgia Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
  • National Board Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of respiratory care experience in an acute clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
  • Experience with CPAP and BiPAP equipment.
  • Strong computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Sleep Disorder Specialist certification.
  • Recent experience facilitating performance improvement projects.
  • Recent patient education experience related to respiratory disease and sleep disorders.
