We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a Resource ELA classroom in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students achieve academic success, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and creating an inclusive learning environment.

About the role

The Special Education Teacher will work under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator to provide specialized instruction and support for students receiving special education services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized educational strategies.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate educational documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student success plans.
  • Provide consultation and support to school staff regarding student accommodations and modifications.

Schedule

  • Location: Phoenix, AZ 85028
  • Start Date: August 3, 2026
  • Contract Length: 9 Months
  • Days: Monday-Friday
  • Student Contact Hours: 8:15 AM - 2:45 PM (includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • The remaining weekly hours are designated for meetings, documentation, planning, and other classroom-related duties.
  • All billable hours must be completed on-site, except for approved virtual meetings where attendance can be verified.
  • Overtime is not anticipated and requires prior approval from the SPED Director.

Requirements

  • Arizona Department of Education Special Education License (Alternative Certifications Accepted)
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification in accordance with Arizona and district requirements
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable
  • Current health documentation and TB clearance, if applicable
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

Pay

Local Opportunity Pay Rate: $50/hour
