Responsibilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and instructional strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Provide targeted support to students with disabilities or learning challenges, helping them access the curriculum and develop academic and social skills.
- Develop, implement, and adapt comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
- Implement appropriate interventions to promote growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, best practices in special education, and differentiated instruction strategies.
