About the role
The role involves performing direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, transporting patients, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic physical care to promote patient comfort.
- Affords assistance with activities of daily living.
- Transports and patients according to WVUH's Safe Patient Handling Policy.
- Performs routine phlebotomy services.
- Monitors vital signs and assists with examinations and procedures.
- Assists with rehabilitation activities and communicates with nurses on nutrition issues.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of the environment.
- Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding patient needs and messages.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire, and prior patient care experience preferred.
